Spokane, Washington, Funds 50 New Shelter Beds, Mobile Medication Assisted Treatment Services

February 3, 2026

The City of Spokane, Washington, announced it contracted with four local homeless services provider organizations to open additional emergency shelter beds. The city is also funding additional mobile units to provide medication assisted treatment (MAT).

The new beds will be available at sites scattered throughout the city operated by Revive Counseling Services; Jewels Helping Hands; the YWCA; and Community, Advocacy, and Treatment (CAT, formerly Compassionate Addiction Treatment). People looking to use these beds will soon be able to find information about them on sheltermespokane.org.

The City of Spokane contracted with CAT to provide mobile MAT services. The goal is that police, the navigation center, and street outreach teams can connect individuals immediately to services, assessment, and treatment.

Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown issued an emergency declaration in late October 2025, allowing the city to bypass its standard contracting process. Mayor Brown’s emergency was ratified by the City Council on November 10.

At the time of Mayor Brown’s emergency declaration, the Community, Housing, and Human Services Department had already started the standard funding process for eviction prevention efforts. The emergency declaration allowed the administration to accelerate the timeline in sending those funds to applicants. Nearly $3 million in eviction prevention funding has now been passed through to Career Path Services, the Carl Maxey Center, Catholic Charities, KCBA Housing Justice Project, Nuestras Raices, SNAP, and Transitions.

This was reported by Spokane City on November 26, 2025 (accessed January 29, 2026).
