Expansion Of Buprenorphine Treatment Via Telemedicine Encounter & Continuity Of Care Via Telemedicine For Veterans Affairs Patients

On March 24, 2025, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services published this final rule regarding the expansion of buprenorphine treatment via telemedicine encounter & continuity of care via telemedicine for Veterans Affairs consumers. Under the telemedicine rule on prescribing buprenorphine for opioid use disorder (OUD), consumers initiating treatment for OUD will be able to receive a six-month supply of buprenorphine after a telephone consultation with a clinical professional eligible to prescribe buprenorphine.
