Federal Guidelines For Opioid Treatment Programs

In 2024, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) published guidelines for opioid treatment programs (OTPs) and they described the opportunities provided by the revised regulations and ways those revisions can be implemented, and they clarify the application of clinical judgment in carrying out OTPs regulatory standards. The guidelines incorporate recent research to provide a strong science-to-treatment foundation and insights of a panel of experts.
