Transforming The SUD Treatment System: The Shatterproof Treatment Atlas Case Study

This OPEN MINDS Executive Roundtable was delivered on July 19, 2024 by Lisa Kugler, Psy.D., Senior Vice President Treatment Atlas at Shatterproof. She presented Treatment Atlas, a platform that guides consumers and their families to the SUD provider organization best suited to meet their needs and provides transparent information on the quality of services offered at the different facilities.
Treatment Atlas is focused on creating a safe, anonymous space for consumers who seek care and support families and individuals by providing an ASAM-endorsed assessment to guide individuals to the most appropriate care (residential or outpatient) for their needs, along with providing recommendations on other supports that could be beneficial to them on an easy-to-use, free, public-facing platform.
Dr. Kugler provided a context for why Treatment Atlas was developed, as well as the platform’s quality indices, growth trajectory, lessons learned, and roadmap for the future. The session addressed how Treatment Atlas can be leveraged to optimize quality care and how, over time, Treatment Atlas can support a transformation of SUD care.

Dr. Kugler is the senior vice president of Shatterproof’s Treatment Atlas team. In this role, Dr. Kugler oversees all aspects of the Treatment Atlas. She has a history of building high-growth teams and implementing multistate programs, with a strong focus on data-driven impact. Prior to joining Shatterproof, she led Beacon Care Services, the direct care provider owned by Elevance.
