This OPEN MINDS Executive Roundtable was delivered on November 30, 2023 by Dale Klatzker, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer at Gaudenzia. He discussed challenges encountered and strategies employed in implementing and expanding medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services throughout Gaudenzia’s large network of treatment programs, including the recent launch of Driving Recovery for PA—an innovative mobile initiative providing evidence-based treatment which including MAT services, to rural areas in Central PA. 

He also discussed the strategies needed to challenge the deep-seated stigma surrounding MAT, Gaudenzia’s experiences in overcoming both internal and external resistance to change, and how the organization navigated the challenging substance use disorder (SUD) treatment landscape against the backdrop of stigma and a global pandemic.
